Nalini is a person with a vision and a mission. Her ambition caters not to her own personal ends but to the world around her. Of Goan lineage, she moved to Goa from Portugal in 1998. The multi-cultural multi-faceted aspects of her character and ever cheerful disposition are what lend character to this entire institute in Goa.
She delves wholeheartedly into projects concerning education and media. She has directed, anchored and produced over 100 episodes of the series, “Contacto Goa” for RTPi, a Portuguese international channel. Besides, she produces short films and series for local television under the Lotus Films & TV Production banner. Nalini has been in the thick of almost all things that can be considered Indo-Portuguese, including owning a shop “A Nau” which sold Portuguese goods. She is also the head of Lotus Libri, a publishing enterprise. However, what she is passionate about more than anything else, is teaching Portuguese. She has taught her much loved language in many Higher Secondary schools and now she teaches at Communicare Trust.
She envisions Communicare as a place where one can learn as well as communicate in different languages, both European as well as Indian. She also wishes to create a space for children to take part in multilingual plays (with at least 3 languages) as well as develop an interest in other forms of communication, for example the media, especially with regard to short animation films. She is convinced with the idea of enriching our own lives with positive interactions with people and cultures from all around the world and not being imprisoned by the limitations uniformity.
Nalini is married to Dr. Bossuet Afonso and has two beautiful children, Anish and Maya.
